Rapper and producer, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson has signed a new four-year deal with Starz. The exclusive deal means Jackson will continue working with the network, curating new series under his production company G-Unit Film & Television, Inc. The deal signals Starz’ confidence in Jackson as a producer. Jackson currently serves as executive producer on the network’s flagship program, Power. The deal includes a three-series commitment from the network and a discretionary fund for G-Unit to use in development.
Variety first reported that, depending on the series’ success, the deal could be worth upwards of $150 million. If true, this is the latest in a line of massive deals for creators to develop exclusively for a certain network.
Jackson released a statement announcing the deal. “When I sat down with Chris [Albrecht, Starz CEO] and walked him through my plans for G-Unit Film & Television going forward, he let me know I was essentially requesting the biggest deal in premium cable history. I am excited to announce that we’ve made that partnership between myself, G-Unit Film & Television and Starz/Lionsgate.”
No information has been released regarding the series Jackson will develop.
The sixth season of Power is currently in production and will likely air next summer.
