Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant was less than happy when Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson celebrated after the Pistons beat the Thunder — a game in which Durant sat out. Durant called Jackson’s actions “bush league” and said that had Durant played, the Thunder would have won.
As you can imagine, the Pistons players did not take too kindly to this. Especially not small forward Stanley Johnson. From Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press:
Johnson said such comments were “uncalled for” and said Durant “disrespected” the franchise.
“If he wanted to have an impact on the game, he should have just played,” Johnson said after this morning’s shoot-around.
He continued.“No one is scared of playing against him on this side of town,” Johnson said. “Next year we have two games scheduled, and I know, for me, it’s circled on my schedule from now on.”
Durant’s comments were rude, especially the one in which he said “who cares about Detroit.” You can’t blame Johnson for being upset. He is right that the Thunder are the better team when everybody’s active, but there’s no reason to rub that in the Pistons’ face.
