Tyrone Corbin finally knows where he stands. After being signed for the remainder of the season. It seems that plan has been scrapped completely as George Karl is now the head coach of the Sacramento Kings.
So what about Corbin? After being the Kings lifeline and potentially being their coach for the future. Nope. None of that. They let him go.
Now. Stan Van Gundy hates it when teams mistreat coaches. He’s experienced it himself. And while this change of the guard goes down, SVG comments on the poor treatment Sacramento has given Corbin.
“I think it’s an unfortunate situation the way it’s been handled,” Van Gundy told reporters before the Pistons’ 104-87 loss to the Spurs on Wednesday. “I think Tyrone Corbin has been treated very, very poorly by their organization. I think the way they’ve treated him is unfortunate and inexcusable for one of the real class acts in our business.
“To have a very public coaching, not search, courting going on and while you’re asking him to coach games, I think he’s handled it with a great deal of class.”
That thing’s been in the news for two weeks now, and Tyrone’s coaching and they obviously don’t have any problem treating him like that.
“I have a hard time understanding that one, I really do. Tyrone Corbin is a class act. He was a class act as a player. He’s a class act as a coach and he’s being treated very, very poorly.“
Van Gundy hit the nail right on the head. This is why people wouldn’t mind the Kings going to Seattle and becoming the SuperSonics. They’re so dysfunctional!
Just when you think they’re making steps towards becoming a Playoff team they fire two coaches and hire a third. All in one season! That’s not healthy!
