As @JonRothstein reports, St. John’s parting ways w/ AD Chris Monasch. D’Alessandro is SJU alumnus, close to Chris Mullin, Lou Carnesecca. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) May 28, 2015
D’Alessandro was a manager for Lou Carnesecca in the 80’s at St. John’s when current St. John’s head coach Chris Mullin was a player. D’Alessandro and Mullin both worked in the Kings front office this season, Mullin as an advisor to the owner and D’Alessandro as the General Manager.
Mullin left the Kings in March to take over the head coaching job at his alma matter. D’Alessandro lost his power when the Kings hired Vlade Divac to take over all personnel moves.
St. John’s is clearly trying to reclaim its glory years of the 80’s, bringing Mullin and trying to lure D’Alessandro back to the school.
