The Jimmer era in San Antonio has come to an end. The Spurs waived the former BYU star on Wednesday, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports:
The San Antonio Spurs are waiving guard Jimmer Fredette today, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

The four year guard has had trouble adjusting to the NBA after a spectacular collegiate career. In his time playing with the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, and New Orleans Pelicans, Fredette never averaged more than 7.6 points per game, and he only reached that amount in his rookie season. Needless to say, he has not showcased his talents at the professional level.
Many believed that the Spurs would be the perfect team for Fredette to allow him to finally meet expectations. Unfortunately, Fredette did not shoot well and continued to be a liability defensively in preseason, leading to the Spurs parting ways with him. If he could not get it going in San Antonio, it’s hard to see where he could finally adjust. While any team can now sign Fredette, it seems unlikely that an NBA team will use a roster spot on him. The more likely scenario is that Fredette takes his talents overseas until he can show something as a professional basketball player worthy of being picked up by another NBA team.
