Somehow, someway the San Antonio Spurs are looking to add more parts to their machine by replacing the old with some new. The Spurs are expected to be the top suitor for LaMarcus Aldridge but they still want to retain the services of Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. In order to keep those guys, some moves will have to be made.
They might be looking to get some relief on their salary cap number by sending one of their other pieces to a rival team. Spurs are in talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers to possibly acquire Brendan Haywood.

league source sez #Spurs talking to #Cavs re. trade for B. Hayward's non-guaranteed $10.5 M contract

By trading a combination of Boris Diaw, Tiago Splitter or even Patty Mills to the Cavaliers the Spurs can do a multitude of things. They could bring in Haywood and his interesting contract by waiving his salary to free up some extra money to not only bring back Green and Leonard but also help to bring in LaMarcus Aldridge.
On the flipside, the Cavs bringing in any of those players could immediate help them, particularly if it’s Diaw or Mills. They can stretch the floor and shoot and add some additional depth. Splitter would just be another big teaming up with his Brazilian teammate Anderson Varejao but he’ll just be clogging the paint. Mills or Diaw in Cleveland could help out their depth chart.
