Spurs Have Season-Best Performance In 125-118 Win Against Clippers
The San Antonio Spurs had a season-best outing in their 125-118 win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. Tony Parker led the Spurs with 26 points in his first game back after missing eight of the Spurs last nine games. Tim Duncan added 21 points and 12 rebounds and Boris Diaw has 23 points for San Antonio off the bench (9-for-11 shooting). Chris Paul had a team-high 25 points for the Clippers.
It was one of those nights in San Antonio, similar to what we saw from the Spurs in the NBA Finals last June except the Finals MVP wasn’t even active on Monday. Their offense was crisp and obviously more capable with Parker back in the starting line up. San Antonio scored a season-high 72 first-half points after scoring 35 and 37 points in the opening quarters.
The Clippers kept probing and managed to come within single digits in the second half, but the Spurs attack was too balanced. Diaw led a 58-point bench effort including 19 points from Marco Belinelli. The Spurs shot 64 percent from the field and over 55 percent from the three-point line. They made 49 field goals on a season-high 37 assists for the game. 20 of those assists were in the first half.
J.J. Redick scored 21 points for the Clippers. 13 came in the first quarter. Blake Griffin finished with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
The Spurs are now 18-11 and the Clippers move to 19-9 on the season.
