Marathon Films has partnered with LeBron James and SpringHill to develop an untitled docuseries about the life and legacy of Nipsey Hussle. The visual project will follow the life of the chart-topping artist as he evolved from the city of Los Angeles and became an internationally known act. Along the way, the series will feature never-before-seen archival footage and interviews with Lauren London, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and Diddy.
“It’s an incredible honor for SpringHill to have a part in sharing Nipsey’s story and legacy with the world,” LeBron James said.
“He used his gift to give back to his community and lived what it means to inspire, empower, and uplift others along the way. His words, his ambition, and his actions stick with me to this day as he continues to inspire myself, our company, and people everywhere.”
SpringHill is no stranger to the intersections of sports, culture and entertainment. Over the years, LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s production imprint has had a hand in documentaries like I Promise, The Redeem Team, What’s My Name: Muhammad Ali and Rise Up: The Movement That Changed America. Additionally, SpringHill has spearheaded original films like House Party and Space Jam: A New Legacy. Now, they will use their skills to tell the story of a revered Grammy-winning artist who changed Crenshaw, Hip-Hop and much more.
“Nipsey was a man of the people,” Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom, said.
“He often said his purpose in life was to inspire. Nipsey’s light shone across the world. His life is a testament that his purpose was fulfilled. The family has taken the proper time and care needed to ensure that Nipsey’s life story be detailed and presented correctly and accurately.”
