Spike Lee has never been one to bite his tongue in the world of film, pop culture and beyond. This time, Lee is making his voice heard in the world of politics. The critically acclaimed director has decided to hold a star-studded fundraiser for 2020 Democratic Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris.
Lee’s sold-out fundraiser was held on Martha’s Vineyard Friday, August 16th. According to ABC News, tickets for the director’s event ranged from $100 and $2,800 each. That’s a far cry from his 2012 fundraiser for former President Barack Obama. Tickets reportedly cost as much as $38,000
The event comes as little surprise to political insiders. Harris has always had a connection to the world of entertainment through her husband, who is a partner at an entertainment law firm. Previously, Playboy Enterprises Executive Cooper Hefner and music mogul Scooter Braun have hosted fundraisers for Harris. Not to mention, Harris has been seen out and about with Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande.
Moving forward, Harris will prepare for a few more major fundraisers. Later this month, Jessica Alba will be hosting a fundraiser for Harris. According to ABC News, tickets are going for upwards of $1,000.
