Entertainment entrepreneur has launched a mentorship program for women of color called Unlock Her Potential. The free program will connect women of color with mentors across a variety of disciplines including fine art, finances and much more. Mentees and mentors will connect monthly for an hour each time.
“What I’m trying to do with Unlock Her Potential is force America’s gaze,” Chang said.
“There is so little mentorship for women of color. When people say that they have mentorship programs for women, I know what that means: it means a white women majority because white is the default in this country,” Chang added.

I want to help provide the resources for WOC to consider mentorship as a tool to help them advance their careers. Having Michael Ostin as my mentor changed my life. For real. Sign up for updates on how to apply at https://t.co/tnmgHVqfk9.

Applications for the program are now open. All are eligible and welcome to apply.
“I actually had somebody email me recently, and she’s in her 50s. And she said, ‘I’m in my 50s. Can I be mentored?’ And I said, ‘Absolutely,’” Chang said about the program.
“This isn’t just for young women of color. This is for any woman of color who wants professional guidance, who thinks that they could benefit from somebody who has more experience and wisdom in a particular arena than they do.”
In addition to launching Unlock Her Potential, Chang is also working on a pilot called Baddest B*tch In The Room for FX. Chang will also be releasing a book of the same name later this year.
