(New York, NY) Vocalist and songwriter, Sonya Teclai, announces the release of her new EP Heatwave. Influenced by artists like Lauryn Hill, Aaliyah, Janet Jackson, Sade, and many more she has developed a standalone sound by fusing elements of r&b, alternative r&b, rap, and trip-hop. Thus, creating a lane of her own. This exotic beauty also attributes her unique sound and love for heavy drums to her African (Eritrean and Egyptian) culture. Along with performing all of the vocals on the project, she also writes all of her own music.
She launched her foray into rap in 2011 and has since incorporated the art into many of her musical endeavors. Sonya has collaborated with several celebrated artists to include Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest, and Aftermath/Dr. Dre’s most recent protege King Mez.
The question isn’t whether you should listen to her music or not. The question is if you will now or when someone else aggressively refers her to you soon, because she’s truly undeniable.
