We had bad news for all of the Spider-Man fans out there. After reports that Sony was in talks to develop a Spider-Man spin-off, the release date for that project has been pulled from the 2019 calendar. The project, which was slated to be released on February 3rd 2019, currently has no release date and has been pushed back until further notice.
According to multiple reports, the film is set to be directed by The Secret Life of Bees’ Gina-Prince Blythewood, but has yet to cast anybody in the film’s central roles. The film will focus on Silver Sable and Black Cat of the Marvel Universe. Silver Sable made her debut in to the Marvel Universe in 1985 as a mercenary who runs a tribe of vigilantes who hunt criminals of war. Black Cat, also known as Felicia Hardy, is an athletic cat burglar.
Most recently, Blythewood addressed concerns about the film back in February. Blythewood tweeted, “Still working on the script. All about the script.” Since then, the film has remained in pre-production and is not moving forward at this moment with filming.
In other parts of the Marvel Universe, Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity Wars show that the country is still clamoring for superhero films. We’ll keep you up to date about the production of Silver & Black as more details arise.
