Sonja Sohn, an actress who appears on The Chi, was arrested over the weekend in Manteo, North Carolina. Sohn was arrested on a cocaine possession charge by Dare County Police and released on bail shortly thereafter.
According to the Dare County Sherriff’s Office, Sohn was riding passenger in a vehicle pulled over at 12:02 am Sunday morning. The officer’s dog alerted on the vehicle and a search was performed. The search turned up cocaine, as well as drug paraphernalia inside a purse found in the vehicle. Sohn was booked on a felony cocaine possession charge and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana paraphernalia and drug paraphernalia at the Dare County Detention Center. The actress was later released on a $1,500 secured bond.
The Chi was renewed for a third season back in April. Since then though, the series has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Back in May, just a month after its third season renewal, actor Jason Mitchell was dropped from the series amid misconduct allegations. Mitchell was also dropped from a number of other projects, including an upcoming Netflix comedy titled Desperados.
Showtime has not released a statement regarding Sohn or her arrest.
