Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is the king of Starz programming. Over the last decade, he’s built the Power universe with Courtney Kemp, launched BMF and branched off to create For Life at ABC. After all of that, Jackson is happy, but far from satisfied. Variety has reported that Jackson has signed a deal to develop a new series inspired by Snoop Dogg’s classic track, “Murder Was The Case.” The report indicates that the series will take a closer look at Snoop Dogg’s infamous murder trial, the success of the aforementioned hit single and how its lyrics were used against him in court.
“Murder was the Case is an incredible story. Snoop had the biggest album in the country and was fighting for his freedom in the courtroom,” Jackson told Variety.
“The only place to go on this incredible ride is with G-Unit Film & Television. I’m excited to be working with Snoop to bring it to television.”
Jackson and Snoop Dogg’s joint effort is part of a larger project being put together at Starz called A Moment In Time. Announced last year, the series will look to recreate key moments in entertainment through the eyes of the artists that experienced them first hand. Variety reports that first season of the series will explore 50 Cent’s back and forth with The Game in the 2000s.
