Smoko Ono may be known for his collaborations with the likes of Vic Mensa and Chance the Rapper, but the multi-talented act has made his presence felt in a number of different genres. Within the last few years, he’s tapped in with Rich, SG Lewis, Corinne Bailey Rae and UMI to name a few. Not to mention, he contributed to last year’s stand-out track, “Want It All” by Burna Boy. This weekend, he’s teamed up with Samm Henshaw to deliver “Pull Up.”
Serving as Smoko Ono’s first leading single of 2022, “Pull Up” is a great way to end the summer and kick off the fall. With production that has been marinating 1970s funk soundscapes, the talented act offers a platter of delectable strings, irresistible basslines and savory groves that will have listeners coming back for more. Assisting with the gumbo of funk, soul and dance, Samm Henshaw adds a bit of seasoning to this summer treat with his infectious vocals.
“I guess this moment seems perfect, at least for now til it worsens/Sittin by the bay, probably wish it never came to this,” Samm Henshaw sings.
End-of-summer breakups are never to easy to work through, but Samm Henshaw and Smoko Ono have found a way to make them as upbeat and funky as possible. Check out their latest collaboration below.
