Fridays are like Christmas morning for music fans. Each and every week, the biggest artists put their gifts on display for listeners to enjoy. This week, Ariana Grande, Big Sean and Lil’ Durk all dropped new records. Not to mention, some of the best producers in the game are in the background pulling the strings like Hit-Boy and Metro Boomin. With all of the new work coming out each week, sometimes its easy to lose sight of some of the brightest stars when they drop new music. A great example of that would be Smino.
This weekend, Smino blessed us with a new record and video. “Donny Outthaway” is a 3:33 stream of consciousness. The St. Louis bounces around different topics ranging from record sales to politics.
“Shit, all we do is break records/Then break bread and get late breakfast/Rise up like them crossaints/Butter luh baby up and then get right back to some more funds,” he raps.
“F*ck around vote, sh*t, f*ck around don’t/Workin’ on a world where I can govern my own/Work, workin’ on a world where I can govern my own/Everybody wanna get on, get known/Talk about a f*ckin’ mental syndrome,” he adds.
“Donny Outthaway” doesn’t appear to be tied to a project. Rather, it’s a lyrical exercise. Check out the new video below.
