The New York Knicks aren’t the only ones hoping to do something for the first time since 1999!
On Thursday, May 15, Richard Martin “Slick Rick” Lloyd Walters announced the release of Victory, his first solo studio album since 1999. Set to be released on June 13, 2025, the LP will not arrive in a traditional format. Instead, the legendary MC will release his latest body of work as a visual experience executive produced by Idris Elba with guest appearances from Estelle, Nas and Giggs among others. According to multiple reports, the film was shot in the United States, the United Kingdom, and across the continent of Africa.
“Victory is all about perseverance, storytelling, imagination, and evolution,” Slick Rick said. “A visual blend of art and heart—a sonic journey that reflects where I’ve been and where I’m going. Victory isn’t just music—it’s a bold in your face statement, showcasing British artistry at its finest!”
The 30-minute project will be debut at SXSW London on June 7 before arriving at Tribeca Film Festival on June 13.
