June 25, 2016 marked the 20th anniversary of one of Hip-Hop’s greatest albums, Jaÿ-Z’s Reasonable Doubt. Everyone celebrated the album in their own ways, wether it was listening to it again, looking back on what it did for Jay’s or their own. Tidal released a short documentary on the album, Biggs Burke held a pop-up for the album and sat with Genius to talk about his favorite moments from Reasonable Doubt.
Skyzoo, a kid from Brooklyn who grew up to be an incredible lyricist decided celebrated 20 years of Reasonable Doubt with a new song. A continuation of one of Jay’s best story-telling songs, “Friend Or Foe”. In ’98 Jay added onto the story with the Streets Is Watching version, “Friend Or Foe ’98”. Fast forward to 2016, Skyzoo is the boy who grew up fatherless because of the events that took place in Jay’s “Friend Or Foe ’98”.
If by some chance you haven’t heard “Friend Or Foe” nor “Friend Or Foe ’98”, make sure you do so before playing “Friend Or Foe Pt. 3”.
