Alright, when I was reading this story, I wanted to throw something. Not only is Sam Hinkie, the antichrist of Philadelphia basketball, involved in the story but it’s at a point where I’m asking myself “Does anyone in that franchise actually give a rip?!”
The Draft is about a month away and everyday we uncover some information on certain teams and how they’re going to approach the Draft and we now know what the Sixers are going to do. They’re going for the laziest tactic I’ve ever seen. Go for the best player available.
It’s hard to build around a cornerstone if you’re not completely certain he’s the cornerstone you want to build around.
That’s the reason why they’ll prefer the best player available over need in the June 25 NBA draft.
Now Keith Pompey of Philly.com, who reported this news, thinks that this is the best way to go about it. With all do respect Mr Pompey, I laugh at all this.
Why does their Draft Pick have to be the cornerstone? Before the trade deadline earlier this year, Michael Carter-Williams was the cornerstone, Philadelphia wouldn’t be in this position if they didn’t TRADE AWAY MCW!
“Let’s see how things go,” Hinkie said. “Not only us, but I suspect the Lakers and the Timberwolves and the Knicks, they will do what we all do — spend a lot of time trying to analyze the players that are likely to be available to them. That time may yield different results than what the prognosticators are saying so far.”
Man this guy makes me laugh. Are you really that deluded? The Timberwolves and the Lakers are picking Okafor and Towns because they’re the two best players after that it’s a tactical game. If you still had Carter-Williams and KJ McDaniels, you could get Emmanuel Mudiay or Justise Winslow and in a years time, be a Playoff team. Remember that they also have Joel Embiid coming into the frame.
This team had so much potential, but now Sam Hinkie set them back another two years because he plays NBA2K so much he thinks it applies to reality.
