The Philadelphia 76ers have waived veteran forward Andrei Kirilenko the team announced on their Twitter account.
Kirilenko, who never reported to Philadelphia and has been staying in New York with his wife, was suspended by the team on January 9th for not reporting. The Sixers acquired the Russian forward from the Nets in a December trade in exchange for Brandon Davies (who has since been waived by the Nets.)
The Sixers parted ways with AK47 two days following the trade deadline, meaning they were most likely trying to trade Kirilenko, but couldn’t find any team to trade with.
A 13 year veteran, AK47 has averaged 11.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.
Kirilenko, who is a hustle player, should gain interest from a team looking to make a playoff push. He’s a player who can play both forward positions, and brings energy off the bench, something any contending team would love to add to their roster.
