When the Philadelphia 76ers acquired Thomas Robinson off the waiver wire, it was a little head-scratching, especially considering that Robinson agreed to initially join the Brooklyn Nets.
Now Robinson finds himself on the Sixers, a team in the bottom of the barrel in the Eastern Conference standings and not known for keeping talented players around.
Robinson does have a chip on his shoulder now, trying to prove something to everyone who doubted him. Considering the fact that he now may be looked at as a veteran on this Sixers team, which is his fifth team in only 3 seasons in the NBA.
It seems like the ‘Bull’, Thomas Robinson, is done with moving around and it ready to prove himself.
Following from Marcus Hayes of Philly.com.
Sixers coach Brett Brown calls him “a bull,” and Robinson the hungriest bull in the barn.
“I’m tired of getting treated like a rag doll in this league,” Robinson said after his second game with the Sixers. “I just want to prove that I belong here. I’m tired of being treated like I’ve been treated in this league.”
“Nobody’s given me a chance,” Robinson said. “That’s pretty much it.”
Thomas Robinson finished second in Wooden Award voting in college to Anthony Davis, then went fifth in the 2012 draft to the Sacramento Kings, but he didn’t get his first NBA start until he’d been in the league more than 200 games. At only 23 years old, Robinson went from being drafted by the Kings, traded to the Houston Rockets and is now on the Sixers after starting the season with the Portland Trail Blazers, getting traded to the Denver Nuggets, getting cut by them and then eventually being picked up by Philly.
Robinson is a little small for a power forward, a little too big for a small forward but there is no doubt about it, Robinson has some heart and he is a scrappy player who always finds a home somewhere because of his tough play.
