The Philadelphia 76ers have claimed guard Ish Smith off of waivers from the New Orleans Pelicans. Smith was traded from Oklahoma City to New Orleans on Thursday and immediately waived.
Undrafted out of Wake Forest in 2010, Smith has played for seven different teams in his NBA career, including the Rockets, Grizzlies, Magic, Bucks, Suns, and Thunder.
Smith has played in 221 NBA games, averaging 2.7, 1.9 assists and 1.4 rebounds per game. Smith was not in uniform on Sunday when the Sixers were in Orlando to face one of Smith’s former teams, the Magic.
To make room for Smith on the Roster, Philadelphia announced that they have waived Malcolm Thomas. Thomas hasn’t played since the Sixers loss to Memphis on January 24th, when Thomas played for five minutes not registering a stat.
