The preseason injury hits continue to pile up.
The Sixers announced on Sunday forward Richaun Holmes will likely be sidelined for the remainder of October after being diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture in the radial bone of his left wrist — code language for a broken wrist.
Holmes, according to the team, will be reevaluated in three weeks. The Sixers open the regular season against the Wizards in D.C. on October 18, roughly one week before his scheduled reevaluation.

Holmes’ injury means more playing time for frontcourt pieces Jahlil Okafor, Amir Johnson and Justin Anderson. In addition to Holmes, players such as Seth Curry, Nicolas Batum and Kris Dunn have also suffered significant injuries this month.
Holmes scored five points and grabbed two rebounds in 12 minutes of preseason action against the Celtics on Friday. He’s spent two seasons with the Sixers since being drafted by the team at No. 37 in 2015, averaging 9.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 20.9 minutes per game last year.
Holmes, who turns 24 next week, raised his averages in nearly every category this past season from his rookie campaign. His 35 percent shooting mark from 3-point territory was a big leap from when he posted a 17 percent mark his first year with the team.
