Bayless last played for the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Sixers already had a need for point guard. That need became greater when it became clear Ish Smith was headed to Detroit.
Bayless is by no means stellar, but he is a solid option for a still rebuilding team. He is able to shoot the ball from deep and add some spacing around a core mainly consisting of non-shooters.
Last season, Bayless shot a phenomenal 44% from behind the arc en route to averaging 10.4 points per game, mainly off the bench. The guard appeared in 58 games last season, mainly as a shooting guard.
Considering the market, this is a pretty good deal for the Sixers. The amount of years handed to Bayless seem a little strange. But even if Philly finds their point guard of the future in that time, Bayless can easily become a good backup or backcourt partner.
All in all, this is a pretty good deal for both Jerryd Bayless and the Philadelphia 76ers.
