Simon Pegg has been hired to co-write ‘Star Trek 3’ with Doug Jung.
They will replace former writers Patrick McKay, Roberto Orci and John D Payne. They left the project after Orci stepped down as director.
Pegg stars in the ‘Star Trek’ series as Scotty and has had plenty of experience writing films. He has penned ‘Shaun of the Dead’, ‘Hot Fuzz’, and ‘Paul’.
‘Fast & Furious’ director Justin Lin is in line to replace Orci as director of the project.
‘Star Trek 3’ is currently slated for a 2016 release date to align with t he series 50th anniversary.
