Nearly twenty years after encountering each other on the popular reality series, American Idol, Jennifer Hudson and Simon Cowell will sit down for an on-air conversation. Deadline has reported that the former American Idol judge will be the first guest on The Jennifer Hudson Show when it debuts on September 12, 2022.
Hudson revealed her interest in interviewing Cowell during a recent interview with KERA-TV in Dallas, Texas. She said that it would be “awesome” to reconnect with the iconic competition series judge after their first interaction in 2004.
“I think it would be so interesting,” Hudson told KERA-TV when asked who her dream guest would be.
“Idol was 18 years ago so why not? I think people will be interested who’ve followed my journey for 20 years. See us sit down and see us have a conversation. I think that would be awesome to do.”
However, the tables are turned this time around. Instead of Cowell dictating whether or not Hudson will advance to the next round, the Chicago native will drive the conversation on her daytime talk show.
“And then it’s like, uh-huh! Now Simon, you’re sitting on my couch,” she continued.
“So he’s on my wish list, among many others.”
Simon Cowell is one of many guests that will make their way to The Jennifer Hudson Show this fall. The EGOT winner is excited to take on the challenge of entering television.
“I’m more excited than anything. You’ve seen me sing and play characters. Now it’s my turn to simply be Jennifer. I heard from Kelly, and she said, “If you need any support or advice, let me know.” I know Sherri, another Chicago girl, is coming out with her show,” she told the Los Angeles Times.
“We’re all supporting each other.”
The Jennifer Hudson Show will debut on the singer’s 41st birthday, September 12, 2022.
