When Sicario first hit theatres back in 2015 many people were blown away by the attention to detail and near documentary-like realness that was exhibited in the film. While director Denis Villeneuve has moved on to other projects, the rest of the creative team thought there was more to explore within the universe that was created in the 2015 masterpiece.
In particular, Taylor Sheridan who has recently been on a hot streak like none other in Hollywood. Over the past several years he’s played an integral role as either a writer or director on Hell Or High Water, Wind River, Sicario and now Soldado. All of the films that have already been released are considered among some of the best films that came out in their given years of release. Hopefully, Soldado can continue that trend into 2018, because Sheridan’s films are seemingly from a bygone era in which studios could make thoughtful, yet action-packed films with reasonable budgets. Hollywood desperately needs films from creative minds like Sheridan to balance out all of the popcorn, franchise goodness that’s currently dominating cinemas.
Soldado is slated to be released on June 29th, 2018. We’ve attached the official synopsis and trailer below.
