With Derrick Rose out for yet another season and the “Before D Rose Came Back” jokes start up again it begs the question… Should the Bulls hit the reset button?
I don’t mean tank, nobody said anything about tanking so don’t get it twisted.
Anyway. I’m listening to PTI (I listen to a lot of shows in Podcast format) and regular host Michael Wilbon brought up the minor subject of the Bulls starting over…
Now it’s definitely something to talk about. With Rose out they don’t have a PG. Hindsight being 20/20 they should’ve put more stock in Nate Robinson.
There’s already talk (not particularly in Chicago circles) of the Bulls trading Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer.
Personally I don’t think it’ll hurt trading Boozer. I rate Taj Gibson.
Jimmy Butler is good but not a number 1 or even 2 player (Like Nicolas Batum).
Saying all that the only solid asset is Joakim Noah but with the way he plays, injuries are inevitable.
So if you think about it there is a possibility of the Bulls stinking up the joint. But there’s one problem. The Eastern Conference is terrible beyond belief. Even if they wanted to tank… It would seem just as hard to go for it all. If they were in the West it would be a different story. I mean there are at least 9-10 Playoff caliber teams. But in the East the only legit contenders for the chip is Indiana and Miami.
So the Chicago front office should really think about their long term future. Because with Rose out and maybe (i emphasise maybe) becoming the next Penny Hardaway or Brandon Roy god forbid…
Ask yourself. Is the Bulls future really that bright?
