Amidst this most recent stretch of incredible basketball played by the Washington Wizards, we’ve seen a lot of players carve out definitive roles for themselves off the bench such as Trey Burke and Jason Smith. One of the forgotten men on that flat Washington bench is rookie guard Sheldon McClellan out of the University of Miami.
McClellan has yet to get consistent stretches of playing time but when he does see the court, the guard occasionally flashes potential. While the guard awaits a chance to prove his worth off the bench in Washington, McClellan made an off the court move, getting his name legally changed from Sheldon McClellan to Sheldon Mac according to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post:
It's real: #Wizards rookie Sheldon McClellan has legally changed his name to Sheldon Mac.

Reportedly, McClellan had been wanting to make the name change for a while since close friends and family already called him Mac anyways and he never had a close relationship with his biological father. But when asked himself about the name change, Mac had his own motive:
Sheldon Mac: "I had to add a little sauce to it."

Surely now his name sounds awfully similar to another backup point guard who donned a Washington Wizards uniform, current Utah Jazz player Shelvin Mack. Don’t let the name similarities fool you, the two are completely different players.
Moving forward, Mac and his additional sauce look to help the Wizards keep winning games as we approach the home stretch of the NBA season.
