Think they’re still bitter in Seattle? Former Super Sonic great Shawn Kemp hosted a “Seattle” party on Thursday to celebrate the Oklahoma City Thunder, formerly the Seattle Super Sonics, missing the playoffs this season.
Sean Quinton of The Seattle Times reports that the party was to celebrate the Thunder’s “failed playoff run and more,” but we like to think of it as Kemp and a bunch of Sonics fans sitting around making fun of Russell Westbrook.
Kemp sold tickets for $15 and had live DJ’s perform at Neumos on Capitol Hill in Seattle which attracted a huge crowd.
Now Seattle fans, I get it. Having your favorite team taken away from you just like that. As a Nets fan I may not have it as bad considering they only moved eight miles away to Brooklyn, and the fact the team headquarters are still in New Jersey and they still practice in New Jersey, but I get it you’re mad the team left.
Durant at one time in his career wore a Seattle jersey, Westbrook could have. So to that I say keep partying on Seattle fans. You want to hate on Clay Bennett go ahead, it’s your week and enjoy it because most likely the Thunder will be better next year when they have a healthy Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka, but this week is for you!
