The Shawn Carter Foundation is hard at work yet again. Joining Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Jay-Z’s foundation offered free supermarket gift cards to three housing projects in Brooklyn. The goal in doing so is to assist families struggling during the ongoing pandemic that seems to be hitting its peak.
“Thanks to a generous donation from the Shawn Carter Foundation and Start Small, every household at Marcy, Sumner and Tompkins Houses received a supermarket gift card to assist in purchasing the food they need,” the New York City Housing Authority stated.

“Thanks for helping the New York City Housing Authority families during these uncertain times,” the post continues.
Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter is no stranger to this neighborhood. Jay-Z grew up in the Marcy Houses. In addition, a number of other public figures all use to call those houses home. Tracy Morgan, Papoose, Memphis Bleek, Sauce Money, Jaz-O and Mos Def all grew up in those Brooklyn housing projects.
