Shailene Woodley is in talks to snag the female lead role in Oliver Stone’s untitled film about Edward Snowden.
The film currently has Joseph Gordon-Levitt to star as the NSA leaker.
Woodley is set to take on the role of Snowden’s girlfriend in the movie, which is based on two Snowden-themed books: Luke Hardin’s The Snowden Files and Anatoly Kucherena’s upcoming Time of the Octopus.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, production for the film will begin in Germany in January.
It’ll be interesting to see if Woodley takes this role as she has several series on her plate like the Divergent series.
Woodley is known for taking on indie roles such as The Descendants and The Spectacular Now.
In 2014, The Fault in Our Stars landed her on several ‘to watch’ lists as well as Divergent!
Shailene will be reprising her role as Tris Prior in the two-part concluding chapter of the Divergent series, Allegiant: Part 1 in 2016 and Part 2 in 2017.
Insurgent opens in theaters on March 20, 2015.
