Minnesota Timberwolves swing man Shabazz Muhammad will undergo surgery on his middle finger and miss the remainder of the season according to Yahoo Sports.
Muhammad, who started 13 games this season, was shooting 50.3 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from three-point range. He averaged 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 23 minutes per game, after being buried deep on the bench last season.
Muhammad is in his second year after playing one season at UCLA. He was drafted 14th overall by the Wolves in the 2013 NBA Draft.
Minnesota is 12-42 and sits at the bottom of the Western Conference. This does hurt the Wolves depth wise for athletic wings, with Muhammad now done for the season, Anthony Bennett missing an extended period of time due to injury, and the trade that sent Thad Young to the Nets in exchange for Kevin Garnett, the team will now rely heavily on rookie Andrew Wiggins at the athletic wing position.
