Fans of the Dark Knight rejoice, A sequel for The LEGO Batman Movie is in development. Chris McKay, director of the original, tweeted at a fan Wednesday confirming as much. McKay doesn’t reveal any information regarding plot or even a title but he does confirm that the feature is in development.
We are working on that rn actually! In the meantime LEGO Batman is all over LEGO 2 coming in February.

The original LEGO Batman movie earned $312 million worldwide in 2017, so it’s no surprise that a sequel is already in the works. Again, not much is revealed in the tweet, but McKay does hint that Lego Batman will be returning in next year’s The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.
Along with a LEGO Batman sequel, McKay is signed on to direct a live-action Jonny Quest Movie. He is also attached to direct a Dungeons & Dragons adaptation for Paramount. Unfortunately, McKay’s full plate likely means that his live-action Nightwing movie will likely stay on the back burner. The Dick-Grayson-led film has already been delayed numerous times and fans remain skeptical that it’ll ever happen. McKay remains adamant that Nightwing will get made, however, reassuring fans recently that it hasn’t been canceled.
The LEGO Batman Movie sequel is still in early development, no release date has been announced.
