We were a little skeptical about Lifetime’s Whitney Houston biopic, but after seeing the previews, we think Lifetime might have nailed it!
The Lifetime movie, Whitney will be premiering in a few days, and in an effort to get fans excited, the network has released a new trailer, with Yaya DeCosta starring as the late singer.
The trailer sees DeCosta, singing one of Houston’s most iconic songs, ‘I Will Always Love You‘ sung by R&B songstress Deborah Cox.
Lifetime also released behind-the-scenes footage, with commentary from director Angela Bassett, discussing her efforts to present an accurate and respectful depiction of Whitney:
The role of a director is a tremendous responsibility. I put my faith in the actors and serve them.
In this movie, you will see the ‘home Whitney, and the ‘glam Whitney’. I fight everyday to get it as right as we can. You want to honor their humanity.
Whitney Houston was on the highest pedestal and she fell the furthest.
She was an incredible artist and human being.
Whitney premiers this Saturday [Jan.17] on Lifetime at 8/7c.
