The sounds and lyrics displayed throughout Sectiontoo’s expanding discography exist somewhere between the written word and the visual image. His latest collaboration with loe4t, “Wishes (Love Could Stand On),” embodies the previous sentence in ways that are hard to explain, but this article will attempt to do so anyway. Whether it’s the laid-back drums or the whimsical sounds infused throughout the production, “Wishes Love Could Stand On” takes the listener up into the metaphorical clouds before Sectiontoo even opens his mouth. Then, he opens his mouth and the track goes from the earthly atmosphere and up into space.

Sectiontoo’s pen crafts sentences that are as much song lyrics as they are stanzas that could be found in the Bowery Poetry Club. At first listen, it feels as if he’s taking a whimsical approach to describing a love between two people who are simply meant for each other. On a second listen, it also feels like he could be describing self-love in a way that is empowering and romanticized. Regardless of what he meant the song to express to the listener, it’s really f*cking good any way you slice it.
