Our first “Song of the Summer” rankings don’t come out until after Memorial Day Weekend, but sectiontoo will be mentioned. Days after debuting his new single on Gabe P’s On The Radar, New York native sectiontoo has returned to deliver the long-awaited track, “Main Ingredient.” With an impeccable flow and an unmistakable sample of “You Don’t Know My Name” by Alicia Keys, the emerging artist creates a track that feels like the first day of summer with Ralph’s Italian Ice, day parties and concerts at Pier Six included. Is he singing? Is he rapping? At times, he’s doing both, but at all times, the song’s energy and nostalgic production make listeners bop their heads nonstop.
“I don’t even know your name. Bet your ex n—a is a lame,” he sings.
“He don’t know that you’re some pressure. Well, I grew from that. I had to put some pressure on my schedule. I’m up now. I got leverage. I had some snakes. I had to cut ’em off. I’m better.”
Clocking in at just over two minutes, the only downside about “Main Ingredient” is that it’s so short. Still, it gives the listener more opportunities to press play again, again, and again. If you haven’t already, press play below for the first time and check out “Main Ingredient” by sectiontoo.
