When you think about Queens, legendary acts like LL Cool J, Run DMC, 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj among others often come to mind. However, sectiontoo plans to bring something different to the borough as he ascends from prospect to contender in the ever-evolving music industry. His ability to blend Pop, R&B and Rap into a unique sound that fits his story sets him apart from many of his peers. Still, there are so many that have never heard the name, Sean “sectiontoo” Lawrence, but that could change by the end of the year as he prepares to release his next project.
“I think people will be able to hear the growth,” sectiontoo says about his upcoming album.
“It’s a really big deal for me to be able to share my gift with the world because not many people get the chance to do so. It’s truly a privilege.”
The road to sectiontoo’s next album began with “Honeybun” and it continues this week with “Different.” Made with the help of his longtime collaborator, Will Fisher, “Different” feels more like a mission statement than a second single. The New York native puts it plainly when he sings, “My Mom raised a man, not a fool. I cut the drama and tell them cut the check. I couldn’t give a damn if you like me or you don’t. You ain’t never pay my bills. You ain’t never kept me fed.” Determined to reach the next level of his career, sectiontoo delivers every line with conviction and confidence. Whether it’s the song you listen to in order to set the tone for the day or it’s a song you need for extra motivation in the gym, sectiontoo offers a track for those looking to say, “F—k what you think. I’m doing me and I’m going to achieve my goals.”
