For the second week in a row Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh has dismissed a juror from the Aaron Hernandez trial. Judge Garsh said this about dismissing the juror, “That was for reasons that were entirely personal to that juror. It has nothing to do with this case.” Last week Garsh said the same thing about dismissing a juror but away from the jury said that there was evidence the juror had discussed the case in detail and expressed the belief that it would be difficult to convict Hernandez without a murder weapon, which has never been found. There are now 16 members on the panel, 12 of which will ultimately decide if Hernandez is guilty of murdering Odin Lloyd in 2013.
Today was the first day in court since February fifth. On Friday the jury went on a police escorted motor coach tour of the important sites the case, which included Hernandez’s home and the crime scene. Court did not take place on Monday or Tuesday because of snow. However, on Tuesday the court released Garsh’s decision to grant prosecutors’ request for immunity for Hernandez’s fiancé Shayanna Jenkins. Garsh ended today’s session for the day at 11 in the morning. The trial was scheduled to resume Friday. Garsh did not specify why there will be no trial on Thursday.
