On Thursday, May 23, Sean Kingston was arrested in California while his home in Broward County, Florida was raided and his Mom, Janice Turner, was arrested. Both Turner and Kingston currently face “numerous fraud and theft charges.”
“This evening, police in Fort Irwin, CA, arrested Kisean Anderson, aka Sean Kingston without incident on a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant for numerous fraud and theft charges,” Broward County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer (PIO) Carey Codd said.
As news of his and his mother’s arrest became public, Kingston shared a message with his fans through Instagram.
“People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak,” he wrote.
Both Kingston and his mother are currently the subject of several criminal charges, including fraud and theft. According to a report from the New York Times, the two are accused of being involved in an “’organized scheme to defraud’ establishments, including a car dealership and a jeweler of more than $50,000.” Kingston is also accused of violating the terms of his ongoing probation sentence, originally set to end October 1, 2025.
