The U.S. Supreme Court has halted the White House’s attempt to end the Deferred Action for Children Arrivals. In a 5-4 vote, the court moved to delay the administration’s attempt to end DACA, rather than blocking it indefinitely. Ultimately, the administration’s attempt was ruled unconstitutional.
“Today’s decision must be recognized for what it is: an effort to avoid a politically controversial but legally correct decision,” U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Roberts stated.

This ruling will momentarily protect nearly 800,000 DACA recipients from being deported. Shortly thereafter, President Obama, who introduced DACA, offered his thoughts on the recent ruling.
“We may look different and come from everywhere, but what makes us American are our shared ideals. And now to stand up for those ideals, we have to move forward and elect Joe Biden and a Democratic Congress that does its job, protects DREAMers, and finally creates a system that truly worthy of this nation of immigrants once and for all,” the 44th U.S. President tweeted.
With the election nearing, this will likely be the end of Trump’s attempt to remove DACA during his current presidential term.
