
Marvel has dominated the month of December. The Disney owned entity kicked off the month with a highly anticipated trailer for Captain Marvel. Later on, Marvel returned with the first trailer for Avengers: Endgame. To kick off the new week, Marvel is back with some more big news.
Ahead of an incredible 2019 slate of movies, Marvel has revealed some news about a film expected to be released in 2020. Disney has revealed that Scott Derrickson will return as director for the next Doctor Strange Film. Derrickson was the director of the first film which premiered in 2016. Earning nearly $700 million at the box office, the film did great for its first time out and is looking to improve with a sequel.
In the new Doctor Strange film, Benedict Cumberbatch will return as Doctor Strange. Since starring in the original film, the English actor has starred in The Jungle Book and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle. In the context of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor was last seen playing the role of Doctor Strange in the Avengers: Infinity War.
Doctor Strange II has no official release date, but it is expected to hit theaters in 2020. Developments regarding casting will be revealed in the coming months.
