Saweetie’s Icy Baby Foundation has embarked on its latest endeavor. In partnership with Goal Setters, Saweetie’s nonprofit imprint has launched a financial literacy program that strives to provide youth in Black and brown communities with the tools they need to succeed. The six-week program is set to kick off with the nonprofit’s “Financial Freedom” event on December 10 in Oakland followed by a six-week online program.
“Each student that attends the Financial Freedom Kick-off event will be required to complete the 6-Week financial literacy course online. Starting the first week of January 2023, all students will complete a 45-minute to 1-hour workshop, once per week, for [six] weeks.,” the program’s description reads.
“After each workshop, additional funds will be added to their individual debit cards. Students will also get a one-year membership to access and utilize the Goalsetter app, which is filled with information and investment tools to enhance their financial learning. Once students have completed their course, they will be able to participate in an online graduation to celebrate their dedication and learning.”
In addition to supporting youth in Oakland, California, Saweetie and the Icy Baby Foundation have extended the financial literacy program into Las Vegas and the greater Sacramento area. The USC graduate encourages interested children and parents to visit the foundation’s official website to learn about the program and future events.
