Saweetie shares the tracklist for her upcoming release Icy. The EP scheduled to drop March 29 stands at seven tracks and so far, no named features.
The Bay Area rapper grasped the attention of the world with the stunningly nonchalant song ICY GIRL. Listed on her 2018 project High Maintenance, the rapper stays true to her bougie girl goals with Icy. Although Icy comes as her first release of 2019, Saweetie delivered a steamy guest verse and video performance on Kid Ink’s YUSO, also featuring Lil Wayne.
The Instagram post sharing the tracklist shows two unfilled spots for features yet Saweetie leaves them unnamed. She asks in the caption “Guess who the features are”, listed on track 2 Tip Toes and track 4 Emotional.
While she has yet to officially name drop fellow artists, the comments all filled with Quavo, Saweetie’s current romantic interest. Quavo himself even dropped the emoji sporting the monocle asking “WHO” in all caps.
Fans even officially titled the couple “Sawevo” and created an Instagram account in their honor.
Other fans suggested Kehlani or even Cardi B. Saweetie and Kehlani previously teamed up for the ICY GIRL Bae Mix. A musical collaboration between Cardi B and Saweetie would make sense. Cardi B recently announced Saweetie joins her and Kevin Gates on a cross country tour.
Whether it be through collaboration or inspiration, Saweetie recognizes the work of others. During an interview with Paper Magazine, Saweetie shares two of her current biggest inspirations are Madonna and Michael Jackson. The pop icons could add a new aspect to Saweetie’s current rap sound.
The artist has faced criticism for her monotone sound, even addressing the comments about her style on the energetic track Pissed. Still early in her artistic career, hopefully, Saweetie continues to evolve, providing anthems for the bougie baddie that dwells in everyone.
