Tennessee Volunteers junior guard Santiago Vescovi has withdrawn from the 2022 NBA Draft and will return to the program for his senior season. Head Coach Rick Barnes is building a winning SEC program with Tennessee and is well poised to perform near the top of the conference once again. Experience is important and returning a starting upperclassman guard like Vescovi is a significant boost. He can use the feedback he got from the 2022 NBA Draft process and improve his professional stock this season.

As a junior with the Tennessee Volunteers, Santiago Vescovi averaged 13.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. His points per game, assists per game, and steals per game all ranked second on the team this past season. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 41.3 percent and a three-point percentage of 40.3 percent. There are several things the guard does well, but his lights-out shooting ability is the clear highlight of his skill set. His return boosts the offensive ability of the Volunteers heading into next year.

Head Coach Rick Barnes has one goal in mind with the Tennessee Volunteers program moving forward. He wants to win a National Championship with the program before he retires from coaching. The return of Santiago Vescovi helps the team and they should once again be near or at the top of the SEC. Putting everything together and winning in the NCAA Tournament is the final goal for the program. Heading into the season the Volunteers could be a dark horse to make the 2023 NCAA Tournament Final Four.
