New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has found a solution so that none of his players try to replicate Antonio Brown’s Facebook Live scandal. Brown’s locker room distraction might have cost the Pittsburgh Steelers a chance to represent themselves in the Super Bowl after they were humiliated by the New England Patriots in the AFC Title Game. Saints head coach Sean Payton has enacted a strategy to avoid such issues for the 2017 season.
“It’s just a simpler scrambler that just avoids the social media aspect. That will be in our locker room,” Payton said, via Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate. “It’s not a violation of your freedom of nothing. But it’s the ability to two hours prior to kickoff, because I want them listening to music, but you can simply hit this little button.”
It’s unclear how the NFL Players Association will respond to this. Payton likely won’t be the first coach to implement some sort of social media policy one way or another. Only time will tell if the possible ‘Sean Payton Rule’ gets put into place for all 32 teams.
