Coming out of Virginia Episcopal School, Sacha Killeya-Jones was ranked number seven on 247Sports list of top high school power forwards in the class of 2016. After committing to Kentucky in August 2015, there were high hopes for the 6’10 power forward. To this point at Kentucky, Killeya-Jones did not live up to the potential that people put on him.
In his first year as a Wildcat, he only averaged 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game only playing around six minutes. Even though his minutes nearly doubled his sophomore season, nothing really changed. Killeya-Jones averaged only 3.3 points per game while grabbing only 2.1 rebounds. Even though his stats were not what a team wants, his shooting percentages remained the high point of his game. In both his seasons as a Wildcat, Killeya-Jones shot nearly 60 percent from the field.

After two very underwhelming seasons under Kentucky coach John Calipari, Killeya-Jones felt it was time for a change. Sacha Killeya-Jones will be spending the rest of his collegiate basketball career playing for the NC State Wolfpack. Kentucky is losing Killeya-Jones to NC State and six of their rotation players in Kevin Knox, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Hamidou Diallo, PJ Washington, Jarred Vanderbilt and Wenyen Gabriel are all testing to see where they stand in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Because of the transfer, Sacha Killeya-Jones will have to sit out of the 2018-2019 NCAA Basketball season to satisfy the NCAA eligibility requirements.
Killeya-Jones hopes this change will help him live up to the potential that was put on him coming out of High School. Not only does this decision bring him closer to home, but it gives him an opportunity to thrive. He will most likely get more minutes, which means he could do more to help his team.
Home cooking will now be a huge part of Killeya-Jones’ NCAA basketball career.
