The 2015 Philadelphia Eagles seem to have already caught the injury bug and OTA’s haven’t even started yet.
Over the course of the past few days general manager/head coach Chip Kelly has either signed or traded for four players that combined only played eight games in 2014, and the newest name on that list is running back Ryan Mathews.
The 27 year old former Charger signed a three year deal worth $12 million according to NFL media insider Ian Rapoport. Mathews is another in a long line of players the Eagles have signed that, when healthy, show promise. Philadelphia was working on signing Frank Gore before he was snatch up by the Colts, Mathews must have been the teams backup plan.
Between diminutive running back Darren Sproles and Chris Polk you can expect Mathews to fill the hole left by Shady McCoy. That is of course, if Matthews is able to stay healthy.
Mathews joins the Eagles with 4,061 rushing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 1,110 receiving yards. Most importantly though, Mathews comes to the team having been injured in three of his five NFL seasons.
