The New Orleans Pelicans are looking like they should be active in this year’s trading window. I mean if they’re not they might as well call it a season now and get it over with.
I jumped off the Pelicans’ “Davis is the second coming” bandwagon very early into the season, but there are still a contingent that believe that the Pelicans will hook up Anthony Davis and take some real positives this season.
With the Suns crumbling, they have been looking for a team to send Markieff Morris, the Pelicans and specifically Ryan Anderson have been in the mill but Alvin Gentry is shutting those rumours down.
“Everyone knows that Ryan’s name is going to be out there,” Gentry said. ”We have made not one call about trading Ryan, nor will we. So those are the kind of things that’s going to happen that people are going to inquire about. Once you’ve been in the league for a couple of years, everyone knows that’s part of it.”
”We’ve talked about a few things, people have talked to us about a few things,” Gentry said. ”But nothing that we felt was beneficial to our team. We like the guys we have here. I still think that we’re going to have a year. As we get healthier and everyone understands what we’re asking them, I think we’re going to be fine.”
Regardless of confirming Ryan Anderson’s future, the Pelicans need to shake it up a little. The thing they’ve got going now. Not exactly working, some trades need to be made and Dell Demps needs to buck up his ideas. He struck gold with Anthony Davis and hasn’t done much to help him. Sure injuries are a massive factor but that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything.
