Last night’s game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the New Orleans Pelicans was definitely a thriller.
After two consecutive misses by Kevin Durant in the final ten seconds with the Thunder down one, Russell Westbrook fouled Anthony Davis following the rebound to keep the game within reach. Davis hit both free throws to give his Pelicans a 113-110 lead. On the following inbound with a couple seconds remaining Westbrook gets fouled on a three and proceeds to hit all three attempts.
With those clutch free throws Westbrook had a stat line of 48 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists and joined some pretty exclusive clubs.

Then he’s was the first to do something this season.
Russell Westbrook is the 1st player with back-to-back 40 point games this season. 1st time he’s ever scored 40 points in consecutive games. — ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo) February 7, 2015
Russell was bound to get a triple double that included 50 points in OT. That hasn’t been done since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1975. LeBron had his taken away 6 years ago.
Unfortunately for him Davis was more clutch who hit a buzzer beating three blocking him entry into that club.
Check out the Clippers vs Thunder tomorrow on ABC to see if Westbrook can keep the 40-point streak going.
